• We're In A Buyer's Market....For How Long????
FROM TIME TO TIME I LIKE TO SHARE ARTICLES OF INTEREST REGARDING THE REAL ESTATE MARKET OR OTHER ARTICLES THAT MAY BE HELPFUL TO MY CLIENTS....HERE IS ONE SUCH ARTICLE.
Daily Real Estate News | April 14, 2008 Poll: Most Say It's Good Buyer's Market
Now is a good time to buy, say 59 percent of those surveyed in an Associated Press-AOL Money & Finance poll.
But long-term confidence in the housing market doesn’t keep some home owners from having concerns about the current situation.
67 percent think it is harder for first-time home buyers than it was five years ago. 60 percent say they will delay buying a home for two years. 11 percent are certain or very likely to buy soon. 40 percent believe housing prices will rise soon 35 percent think the prices of homes in their neighborhood are about right 50 percent of home owners in the Northeast say houses are still overpriced, 10 percent of those in the Midwest think homes are underpriced.
Gus Faucher, director of macroeconomics for Moody's Economy.com, a consulting firm, said his company believes home sales are at or near bottom, but home values will continue to fall until early next year.
Even so, he said, many people bought their homes before the run-up in values that started around 2001, so they're still in good shape. Unless the home owner must sell now or can't afford the payments, the current downturn "doesn't have that much of an impact," he said.

• Holiday Celebrations Throughout The Year - Oriental Style!
RUNNING OF THE DRAGON - NEW YEARS EVE If you didn't make it this year to the New Years Eve famous running of the dragon and croaker drop then you need to think about making your room reservations now for 2008. Some places are already pre-booked!

CROAKER FESTIVAL - JULY 4TH CELEBRATION Another big weekend in Oriental is our July 4th celebration we all call Croaker Festival. Now this is a full weekend of fun for all ages complete with the big Croaker Parade that you just gotta see, a street fair with all sorts of rides and goodies for the kids as well as crafts and live music for the adults. Topping it all off is a firework display that is better than I have seen in large cities. Mark those calendars now and call for those room reservations because we do tend to get booked up on these special weekends.

SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION

Talking about small town charm this is a must see. It is like a picture from Norman Rockwell. On Friday the boat parade of lights begin the weekend holiday festivities, followed by the lighting of the star. Then on Saturday the true spirit of the holidays shines through as merchants and businesses all over town open their doors with lots of holiday cheer in the form of hot clam chowder, super chili, hot dogs, apple cider and everything else you can think of to eat or drink. Just when you think your day has ended the small town Christmas Parade starts it winding journey thru the village where thousands of folks line the streets waiting to see good old Santa Clause. The lighting of hundreds of luminaries along the village streets is a heart warming and final ending to a perfect day.
FORGET FOOTBALL REGATTA - NEW YEARS DAY
An event every sailor looks forward to each year....the laid-back fun race for any and all boats and experience is not necessary! Weather is normally mild and long sleeve shirts is all you usually need. Cancellations rarely occur since the "Oriental rule of thumb" is the wind speed can't be higher than the temperature! The only winners are those that are officially declared by a secret drawing at 3:00 p.m. when by mandatory rules all crew have to gather at M&M Restuarant for a little food and "cheer".
